Ministers of the three nations in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam development triangle gathered in Hoa Binh province on October 26 to discuss adjustments and supplements to the overall plan for socio-economic development in the region.

Delegates also debated a statement that will be released at a summit in Phnom Penh in November.

The overall plan for socio-economic development in the region was approved at a summit held in Vientiane, Laos in November 2004 involving ten provinces including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Dak Nong in Vietnam, Sekong, Attapu, and Saravan in Laos and Stung Treng, Rattanakirrri, and Mondulkiry in Cambodia.

Over the past five years, the development triangle has progressed rapidly. However, in the context of international integration, there need to be adjustments to the overall plan of the region.

Earlier, at a summit for Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV) held in Vientiane in November 2008, the three Prime Ministers also requested supplements to the overall plan for regional development. At the fourth meeting of the co-ordinating committee held in Dak Lak in December 2009, the three nations agreed to add Binh Phuoc (Vietnam), Kratie (Cambodia) and Champasak (Laos) provinces to the CLV development triangle.
