Vietnam has exported 700,000 tonnes of coffee so far this year, earning a turnover of US$900 million, according to the Vietnam Coffee Association.

Since May, the export price of coffee is likely to reach US$1,500-1,600 per tonne. The price of coffee beans in the Central Highlands has also risen to VND25,000 per kilo.

The country’s total coffee output is likely to reach 900,000 tonnes this year, grossing a turnover of US$1.5 billion, up US$400 million compared to last year.

A representative from Utz Kapeph, a non-governmental organisation, in Vietnam said the organisation granted a certificate to seven Vietnamese coffee companies in 2006, and a US$880,000 reward for 22,000 tonnes of coffee.
