Vietnam’s ship leaves for naval exercise in Indonesia

The hospital ship coded 561 of the Vietnam People’s Navy left Cam Ranh Port in the central costal province of Khanh Hoa on April 3 for the Komodo multilateral naval exercise in Indonesia, according to Quan Doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper.

The ship is expected to arrive in Indonesia, on April 11 and join the naval forces of Indonesia and 14 other partners in exercise activities in Padang city and Mentawai islands in West Sumatera province from April 12-16.

This year’s exercise themed “Readiness and Cooperation for Peace” will focus on maritime peacekeeping operations, humanitarian assistance, and natural disaster relief.

Other sidelines activities include navigation exhibition, boat racing, beach soccer contests, street parade, and art performances.

The biennial event was first organised in 2014 with the aim of strengthening friendship, trust and coordination among the involved parties to address navigation security issues.
