The Vietnamese Embassy and the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Russia held a grand meeting in Moscow on August 27 to observe Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

Ambassador Nguyen Van Nganh described the relationship between Vietnam and Russia as a strategic partnership that should be well preserved and further developed.

He said the upcoming visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin will be an opportunity for the Russian leader to meet and exchange views with the new Vietnamese leadership to develop bilateral relations and strengthen strategic partnerships between the two countries.

The Russian President is expected to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' conference slated for November in Hanoi.

The two countries are busy preparing for the inter-Governmental Committee for Economic, Commercial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation to meet in Hanoi in the autumn of this year.

For his part, Andrey G. Kovtun, deputy director of the Department of ASEAN Member States and Asia-Pacific Regional Affairs, praised Vietnam's 1975 victory that led to national reunification as a foundation for Vietnam to emerge as one of the most dynamic economies in the world.
President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association E. Glazunov said the two countries have made remarkable progress in bilateral relations, despite numerous challenges and world changes.
