Vietnam’s humanitarians honoured

As many as 80 humanitarian organisations and individuals are to be recognised by being presented with the “Vietnam-Humanitarians” award, scheduled to be officially announced on February 22.

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, PetroVietnam, is among the country’s major contributions to activities worth more than VND300 billion, followed by Vincom (VND54 billion) to the nation’s most disadvantaged people between 2006-08.

The event, the second of its kind so far in Vietnam, aims to encourage both individuals and organisations, domestic and overseas, to contribute to charitable movements, said the organising board, which includes the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, the Vietnamese Red Cross Society and the Association in Support of the Disabled and Orphans.
