About 10,000 people and foreign tourists took part in the 5th walk in Ho Chi Minh City for the poor on November 15.

The event was in response to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s call for more funds to look after the poor.

Social-political organisations, armed forces, religious representatives and people in 24 districts of HCM City raised VND6.1 billion for poor people.

In the first 9 months of this year, HCM City’s Fund for the Poor received nearly VND7 billion from individuals, businesses and social organisations.

The 4th walk organised in HCM City last year raised VND6.2 billion and US$1,000.
