The Republic of Korea (RoK) will expand its personnel training programme in Vietnam, said the RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Eui-ki at the "RoK-Vietnam Friendship Night" event in Hanoi on December 28.

The diplomat said that the RoK government has selected Vietnam as a key Southeast Asian nation in its cooperation programme and decided to increase official development assistance for Vietnam in 2009. He said the RoK is also implementing many ODA projects in Vietnam, including those on human resource development.

Since 1991 the RoK government has invited more than 2,000 Vietnamese State officials and employees to the RoK for training through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
