Vietnamese International Grand Master (IGM) Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son finished 10th at the World Junior Chess Championship which closed in Turkey on August 17.
The former world U10 champion, whose Elo rating is now 2.579, lost to India’s IGM Parimerjan Negi in the 12th round and drew with IGM So Wesley from the Philippines in the 13th round.
Meanwhile, his teammate Le Quang Liem lost to China’s Hou Yifan in the last round and was placed 15th.
The tournament, which started in Gaziantep on August 2, drew the participation of 195 players from 60 countries.
