HCM City to host int’l women volleyball tourney

VOV.VN - A press conference was held in HCM City on April 10 to announce the international women’s volleyball tournament, VTV9-Binh Dien, scheduled for April 22-30.

This year’s event attracted the participation of eight teams from Vietinbank, Lien Viet Post Bank, VTV Binh Dien Long An, Yunnan and Fujian Clubs from China, Bangkok Glass from Thailand, April 25 Sports Club from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and U-23 Kazakhstan. Teams from China, Thailand and Kazakhstan are considered strong.

According to the organizing board, the champion will receive a cash award of US$15,000 and the runner-up will receive US$10,000. Other prizes will also be given.

Diverse activities will be held during the event to promote the image of Vietnam. Foreign athletes will join tours to Ba Den Mountain and an Ao ba ba (Vietnamese silk pajamas) fashion contest will be held for all sportswomen.
