Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on November 5 hosted a reception for UK Ambassador Mark Kent who has finished his term in Vietnam.

Mr. Dung was highly appreciative of Kent, who helped strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Mr. Dung stressed that Vietnam has always attached great significance to cooperating with the UK, especially in economics, trade, investment, education and training.

He said the two sides should sign an action plan to boost cooperation in the above mentioned sectors, as well as in official development assistance (ODA) and science and technology.

He said he hoped Kent, in his new position, would continue to help develop Vietnam-UK ties.

Kent thanked PM Dung for the Government's assistance, as well as that of ministries and agencies, during his term and affirmed that he would indeed continue to strengthen co-operative relations between the two countries.

Kent praised co-operation in education, saying that many Vietnamese students were studying in his home country and that a British university would be set up in central Da Nang City.

The two countries also worked well together in dealing with migration issues and preventing transnational crime, he added.

The UK was ready to help Vietnam cope with climate change and support enterprises, Kent said.

The same day, Kent was also received by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.
