Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung on May 31 received a Cambodian delegation led by Var Kim Hong, Senior Minister in charge of border-related affairs and Chairman of the Cambodia-Vietnam Commission on Border Demarcation and Marker Planting.

Also present at the reception was Vu Dzung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of the Foreign Ministry's Border Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Commission on Border Demarcation and Marker Planting.


The two chairmen informed the Deputy PM of the results of the commission's first session held in Hanoi on May 29-30.


Deputy PM Dzung spoke highly of the significance of the Supplemental Treaty to the 1985 Treaty on the Delimitation of State Borders between Cambodia and Vietnam, signed by the two Prime Ministers on October 10, 2005. He expressed his appreciation of the two delegations' efforts in completing preparations for the demarcation of the Vietnam-Cambodia land border.


He urged the two delegations to continue their close coordination in an effort to complete the border demarcation and marker planting before the end of 2008 and to build the Vietnam-Cambodia border into one of peace, friendship, long-lasting stability and cooperation for development.
