The Ministry of Public Security on July 9 delivered Lee Hoang Thanh, a 47-year-old Australian of Vietnamese origin, to Vietnam Interpol and Australian police at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Lee, or Le Hung Em, was arrested on the run in Vien An Dong Commune in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, his homeland.

The arrest was made at the request of Australian police who issued an international warrant of arrest on February 14 in 2006. Australian police allegedly have enough evidence and documents to prove that Lee instigated and organised the kidnapping and killing of Duong Van Son, head of a criminal organisation in the state of Victoria in Australia on January 15, 2006.

After Lee was arrested by Vietnamese police, he pleaded guilty.
