The central province of Nghe An will breed two distinct species of water buffalo for export to Laos and Thailand.

The Phu Quy and Thanh Chuong breeds of buffalo are characterized by their high productivity, low maintenance rearing needs and their large mass.

The province is currently experimenting advanced breeding technologies in order to generate strong breed stocks.

As part of the plan, local authorities are encouraging farmers to apply new breeding techniques and locate fixed boundaries for buffalo farms in the area.
