A solemn meeting was held in Duc Hoa district in the southern province of Long An on November 23 to commemorate 70 years of the Southern Uprising.

The event was attended by more than 1,000 delegates including revolutionary veterans, the former provincial leaders through the revolutionary stages, representatives from provincial and district levels and local people.

At the meeting, delegates recalled the patriotic and heroic tradition of people in the south during the uprising against the French colonists and the glorious history of generations of revolutionaries.

Over the past 35 years of national construction and defence, the province has made great efforts to overcome difficulties and gain major achievements in economics, culture, society, and national security and people’s living standards have been greatly improved.

The event aimed to preserve the glorious tradition of the homeland and show deep gratitude to the soldiers in the struggle for national liberation.
