Top Vietnamese striker Cong Vinh became the first Southeast Asian footballer to play in a European league, when he played for Portugal’s Leixoes in the Portugal Liga Sagres on October 3.

At 1am Vietnamese time, Vinh in the No 29, played his first game for Leixoes which defeated Uniao De Leiria 3-2.

The Vietnamese top scorer was played in the midfield by coach Jose Mota.

Last year, he moved from Song Lam Nghe An to T&T Hanoi for a record four-year transfer fee of US$400,000.
