The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved an ADB-funded project to support preparations for the construction of two metro lines in the city.

The US$2.2-million project includes US$1.7 million in non-refundable aid from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The 12-month project aims to design detailed plans for the building of metro lines and improve the quality of public transport services in the city.

Construction of two metro lines is expected to be completed by 2020.
