Wartime images and items of US pilots on display
Images and items of American pilots captured by the Vietnamese revolutionary forces in the north during the Vietnam War (1955-1975) are on display at the War Remnants Museum in HCM City , Tuoi Tre newspaper reports.
The Nhan Dao (humanitarian) exhibition features 87 images, documents and objects arranged into three themes: the destructive war in Northern Vietnam waged by the US Air Force and Navy, the US POWs in the Vietnam War, the return of POWs and the normalization of Vietnam-US relations.
The images of the American pilots show their daily activities such as playing sports, watching movies, having periodic health examinations and having fun during their traditional holidays and festivals such as Christmas while they were held in Northern Vietnam.
Visitors can find documents about the life of the captured American pilots, their personal items such as ID cards and cash which they brought along, and the objects attached to their time in jail such as clothes and paintings they had drawn.
Operation bed, coffee making tools, mirrors, combs, water containers and paper clips are also available in the exhibition.
The exhibition lasts until May 31. The museum is located at 28 Vo Van Tan Street, District 3, in Ho Chi Minh City.
