Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh has praised the Vietnam-Laos relationship as an exemplary model in international relations and an invaluable asset which should be maintained and promoted for future generations.

Mr Manh made the remarks at a reception in Hanoi on October 30 for Saman Vinhakhet, Politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee (LPRPCC).

He spoke highly of celebrations to mark 60 years since voluntary Vietnamese soldiers and specialists were sent to Laos to lend a helping hand to its struggle against colonial forces.

He said the celebrations were an opportunity to recall the traditional friendship, combatant alliance and special solidarity between the two parties, armies and people, and to commemorate the great contributions to Laos by Vietnamese volunteers.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people will continue to reap more successes in national construction and development.

For his part, Saman Vinhakhet, who is also LPRPCC’s Head of the Steering Committee for Ideology, Theory and Culture, affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will do their best to strengthen their traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

He expressed his deep gratitude for the valuable support the Vietnamese Party, State, armed forces and people extended to Laos during its struggle for national liberation in the past and construction and development at present.
