The Hong Kong-Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Vietnam on September 14 launched its banking services at more than 1,600 post offices under the management the Vietnam Post Corporation (VNPOST).

The cooperation between the largest foreign bank in Vietnam and the country’s largest postal service provider aims to take advantage of the latter’s nationwide network and the worldwide prestige of HSBC.

HSBC Vietnam General Director, Thomas Tobin, said the cooperation would help his bank to extend services in order to meet the customers’ demand for banking transactions.

VNPOST General Director Do Ngoc Binh underlined that the deal would offer a promising prospect for both sides to expand their business, diversify types of products and supply additional services to customers.

He said this is a strategic step towards bilateral cooperation in developing retail markets with a wide range of products and services in Vietnam, particularly in remote and isolated areas.
