The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has pledged to assist the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation to improve its football under the “Vision Asia” programme.

An AFC delegation has finished a fact-finding tour of HCM City from July 8-10 to study the city’s football development.

According to the programme director, Brendan Menton, AFC will help the city’s football federation improve its management capacity, develop clubs and organise competitions.

In addition, AFC will also assist in training young players, coaches and referees as well as hold courses on marketing, club management and others.

Menton said the cooperation programme will be officially approved in September, after a seminar scheduled in Malaysia.

The AFC’s “Vision Asia” programme has been expanded to 10 countries. Vietnam has joined the programme for three years with two first localities, central Nghe An and southern Long An provinces.

Together with HCM City, Hanoi will be next destination for the AFC delegation’s fact-finding tour.
