“Street Art Fair” encompasses painting, fashion shows, street music, and creative booths.

Following the success of the first fair, “Street Art Fair 2” drew well-known painters like Phuong Vu Manh, Le Thiet Cuong, Le Quang Ha, and a number of new artists.

Music and painting dominated the event, which encouraged participation by everyone. Some painters performed interactive Action Painting that included face painting of child models.

The fair’s impromptu stage let children try out a new kind of art and experience a fashion show catwalk for the first time. Anyone could sign up to show off their own talent. This reflected the Fair’s goal of narrowing the gap between artists and the public.

Painter Phuong Vu Manh, the initiator of the fair, said, “I’ve travelled to several European countries and seen their street arts. I found them very interesting and hoped that such activities would be held in our city. I want to turn the Fair into a recurring event so street arts will become more familiar to Hanoi’s people who will acquire a habit of enjoying the arts after working hours.”

The famous artists were joined by several new artists, some of whom introduced Gloving – a new kind of performance art. Gloving artists wear gloves with LED lights attached to fingers and palms, and create beautiful light motion by moving fingers, hands, arms, and body to the music beat, creating the colorful visual illusions.

Nguyen Quang Minh, a 2nd year student at the Law University, said this was his second time at the “Street Art Fair”. Minh seemed very interested in the Gloving performance.

Khuc Quoc Hung, a student at the Industry University, shared his feeling: “this is my first time at the Fair. Everybody here seems creative and I want to bring my invention to show to all of you.”

Nguyen Thi Phuong Nhi, Hanoi Creative City’s communications officer, said, “Hanoi Creative City has organized many cultural and artistic events for the community. In the future we will continue to focus on programs closer to life.”
