Preparations for the 13th National Assembly (NA) and People's Council elections at all levels for the 2011-2016 term are being carried out in accordance with the law, said Pham Minh Tuyen, Secretary General of the Election Council.
Tuyen, who is also Head of the NA Standing Committee’s Delegates Board, made the statement at the 39th session of the NA Standing Committee in Hanoi on April 25.
Under the close guidance of the Election Council and relevant central agencies, election preparations are due to be completed as planned, he said.
Party General Secretary and NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong emphasised the need to get the entire political system and people involved in the election preparations with a focus on scale, content and methods of dissemination work.
Relevant agencies should guide cadres who are directly involved in the process to ensure social security and order, he said.
