The Vietnamese Party, State and people would constantly develop the special Vietnam-Laos relations for the benefit of the two nations and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, said Truong Tan Sang, politburo member and standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Secretariat.

Mr Sang was leading a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Laos to attend the funeral service for Lao Party leader Nouhak Phoumsavanh.

Meeting with Lao Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone in Vientiane on September 13, Mr Sang expressed heartfelt condolences to the Lao Party, State and people over the death of Nouhak Phoumsavanh, a founder of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and a close friend of the Vietnamese people, who devoted his whole life to foster the Vietnam-Laos special friendship and comprehensive cooperation.

He conveyed sincere condolences from Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

For his part, Choummaly Sayasone stressed that the Lao Party and State highly appreciated the attendance of the Vietnamese high-level delegation, including Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan, in the funeral.

The Lao leader recalled fine memories of Nouhak Phoumasavanh with Vietnam and affirmed that the Lao people will continue with their national construction and develop bilateral cooperation with Vietnam as the deceased leader wished and worked for his lifetime.
