Seminar strengthens Vietnam – Laos special ties

A seminar aiming to strengthen the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos for the 2011 – 2020 period took place in the capital of Vientiane on October 24.

The event was jointly organised by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Lao National Institute of Social Sciences.

Participants affirmed that the Vietnam – Laos special ties, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane, are growing vigorously.

They stressed the need to continue holding annual meetings between the two nations’ high-ranking leaders, increase public awareness of the special bilateral ties, especially among young people, and effectively carry out the economic, cultural, education and scientific-technological cooperation strategy during the period.

They held that the two countries also need to work out a human resources training scheme in harmony with each side’s socio-economic development strategy.

At regional and international forums, the both nations should share views and support each other in a bid to fight subversive schemes by external hostile forces.
