The 2008 International Football Eximbank SJC Cup will take place at Thong Nhat stadium in Ho Chi Minh City from October 1-5 in a round robin format, drawing participating teams from Myanmar, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Korea and the host country, Vietnam.
The Vietnamese team is scheduled to meet Myanmar in the first match.
The organizing board and the main sponsor, Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank) hopes the tournament will be good preparation for the national team to head for the 2008 AFF Suziki Cup, held by the Asian Football Federation in Indonesia and Thailand next December.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has nominated four of Thailand’s referees and assistants at FIFA to work with four Vietnamese referees at the Eximbank SJC Cup.
First prize is US$25,000, while second-and-third place teams will receive US$15,000 and US$5,000, respectively.
