Chinese man receives death sentence for drug trafficking
(VOV) - Zhang Zhi Hua, a Chinese national was sentenced to death by the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Court on October 31 for transporting a large volume of drugs into Vietnam.
According to the indictment by the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Procuracy, the 51 year-old man was arrested aboard a taxi in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh on February, carrying more than 120,000 ecstasy pills weighing a total of 10.9kg.
Zhang said he was hired to transport the pills from Cambodia to Vietnam by Tran Van Chanh, a Vietnamese national living in China.
He was promised US$40,000 for the successful transportation.
