Typhoon Tembin forces airlines to cancel flights

VOV.VN - Several airlines have cancelled flights to southern provinces as tropical storm Tembin, the 16th storm to affect the East Sea this year, is forecast to slam into southern localities this afternoon (December 25). 

Low-cost airline Vietjet Air has cancelled flights with the numbers VJ465, VJ466, VJ701, VJ464, VJ457, VJ456, VJ331, VJ330, VJ327, VJ326 between Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and HCM City on December 25 to ensure the safety of their passengers. Other flights have been postponed to avoid being impacted by the typhoon.

A representative from Vietjet Air advised that passengers with plans to depart from or arrive at airports in HCM City, PhuQuoc, Can Tho, and Cam Ranh should closely monitor the latest information regarding the airline’s flights and the track of typhoon Tembin through messages, the airline website, or mass media.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, and the Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) advised their passengers with plans to depart from or arrive at airports in Phu Quoc, Can Tho, Lien Khuong (Da Lat) and Cam Ranh, Con Son (Con Dao) and Rach Gia (Kien Giang), and Ca Mau to regularly monitor the latest weather advisories and take heed of any notifications from the airlines.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, typhoon Tembin will slam into Con Dao Island on December 25 afternoon and make landfall in the coastal area from Ba Ria – Vung Tau to Ca Mau  provinces in the evening of the same day with sustained wind speeds of 118 - 133 km per hour.
