Vietnam and Laos have discussed measures to foster their economic relations, particularly in the area of investment.

During a meeting in Vientiane on May 15 between visiting Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc and Chairman of the Lao Planning and Investment Committee Soulivong Dalavong, the two sides said they will continue to exchange information and experiences in planning and investment and hold conferences on investment evaluation and promotion. They will also strive to strengthen Vietnam’s position among foreign investors in Laos.

Vietnam now ranks third among foreign investors in Laos, after Thailand and China. Its projects focus on power, coal-minerals, chemicals and rubber planting and processing.

During its stay in Laos from May 14-17, the delegation will also work with concerned agencies and businesses.
