A groundbreaking ceremony for the Cua Dai bridge over the Thu Bon river began in the central province of Quang Nam on August 30 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The bridge, which will connect Hoi An city and Duy Xuyen district, is one of the 29 construction projects to prevent and alleviate natural calamities in the coastal area of Quang Nam province.

The bridge project is more than 18km long and measures 25m in width, with a total investment of nearly VND2.5 trillion.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Dung highlighted the importance of the project for the local socio-economic development.

Once completed, the bridge will connect many coastal localities from Danang to Hoi An to the Chu Lao Economic Zone and the Dung Quat Economic Zone, providing a new impetus for the central region’s economy.
