Submarine cable problems stymie Vietnamese internet traffic
(VOV) - FPT Telecom has announced up to 60% of Vietnamese internet traffic is suffering service disruptions after a segment of the Asia-America Gateway, 278km away from Vung Tau, broke down on December 20.
The AAG cable issues impact all Vietnamese telecommunications providers including FPT Telecom. Customers may encounter problems using international web services, e-mail, voice, and video. Domestic internet services are not affected. FPT Telecom advises its customers to use Vietnam-based routes wherever possible.
FPT Telecom is coordinating with the relevant authorities to keep customers updated regarding the status of the AAG cable repairs.
The cause of the breakdown is not clear.
