Russian, Vietnamese localities urged to expand cooperation

(VOV) -Russian localities and Vietnamese cities, provinces and businesses should expand their cooperation in areas of their strength on the basis of the time-honoured friendship between the two nations.

President Truong Tan Sang made the statement at an October 22 reception for Governor of Moscow province (Moscow Oblast) Andrei Vorobyov in Hanoi during which he affirmed Vietnam's recognition of high importance on developing relations with traditional friends, including Russia.

Apart from oil and gas, Vietnam wants to join hands with Russia in other fields, not only in the country but in other Southeast Asian nations, he told his guest.

President Sang expressed his conviction that with the support of the Governor and Russian relevant agencies, more projects will be carried out including those on food run by Vietnamese businesses in Russia.

The State leader said he believes Vorobyov’s visit will be a success, thus helping realize commitments made by Vietnamese and Russian leaders and reinforcing the traditional friendship between the two countries.

President Sang asked the Governor to extend his greetings to President Putin and people of Russia.

In turn, Andrei Vorobyov expressed his strong impressions of Vietnam’s socio-economic development, saying his visit aims to work with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and enterprises to establish a Vietnamese industrial zone in Moscow province specializing dairy production and light industry products.

He reiterated his nation's readiness to offer the best possible conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Moscow province and aspires to accelerate the construction of the Russian-invested Ninh Thuan nuclear power project in Vietnam while bolstering petro-chemistry cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation.
