Government leader hosts outgoing Chinese Ambassador

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc applauded the contributions made by Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong to boosting bilateral ties betwen the two nations at a reception for the outgoing diplomat on February 6 in Hanoi.

PM Phuc noted with satisfaction the positive developments in bilateral ties, especially economic and trade cooperation.

China continues to be Vietnam’s biggest trade partner, while Vietnam has become China’s largest trader in ASEAN. Bilateral trade increased from US$58.78 billion in 2014 to US$93.69 billion in 2017.

China ranks eighth among 125 countries and territories investing in Vietnam and tops the list of foreign tourists to Vietnam. Vietnam also ranks first in ASEAN in the number of tourists to China.

Phuc told the Chinese diplomat that the Vietnamese Party and Government's recognition of high importance to its comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China.

He also asked the two sides continue realizing common perceptions of senior leaders, consolidate political trust through high-level meetings, set up three working groups on infrastructure, finance and monetary, and discuss win-win cooperation at sea, and well control disagreements and maintain peace and stability at sea so as to develop the Vietnam-China relations in a stable, healthy and sustainable fashion.

Ambassador Hong showed his impression with Vietnam’s strong socio-economic development as well as significant progress in the two countries’ partnership.

He promised his continued efforts to elevate the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level in the future.
