Several primary schools and bridges built in Vietnam's northern provinces with non-refundable aid from the Japanese Government for the 2003 and 2005 fiscal years were inaugurated on September 29.

Construction of Thuoc Ha bridge built in Thuan Thanh commune, Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province, received US$79,600 in 2003. The bridge benefits about 8,000 residents, mainly of the Thai, Dao and Cao Lan ethnic minority groups.

Two primary schools in Phu Tho province were built each with a fund of US$81,000 for the 2005 fiscal year. The Tu My school in Tam Nong district and Van Khuc school in Cam Khe district has 10 classrooms each to help solve the shortage of classrooms in these two districts.

The Na Tam primary school in Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province, also has 10 new classrooms built at a cost of US$84,600.

A day earlier, two projects to upgrade rural roads in northern Hai Duong province with aid from the Japanese Government for the 2006 fiscal year were signed in Hanoi.

The projects, with a total aid of US$175,000, will upgrade roads and drainage systems in Thach Loi commune in Cam Giang district, and Tan An commune in Thanh Ha district.
