Hanoi student cruises into FameLab 2016 finals in UK

Pham Tuan Thach, a student at Hanoi University of Science of Vietnam National University in Hanoi, has secured a ticket to enter the finals of the FameLab communication competition in the UK after he won the contest in Vietnam in 2016.

With his speech about blood stem cells and pets, Thach defeated 11 other finalists in the final round at the Vietnam National University in Hanoi. He will compete in the UK in June with other winners from 30 countries and territories.

The contest was aimed at promoting STEM education in Vietnam. STEM is an abbreviation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

FameLab was initiated at the Cheltenham Science Festival in England in 2005. Since then, the Cheltenham Science Festival has cooperated with the British Council to hold FameLab in over 25 countries.
