Senior UN official meets Deputy Defense Minister
Support and experience sharing from the UN Department for Peacekeeping Operations will help the Vietnam People’s Army prepare to participate in the UN’s peacekeeping force in early 2014.
The statement was made by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence, 25 while receiving Edmond Mulet, Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations in Hanoi on February.
Vinh said that the army officers will be trained to work as observers at the UN.
Mulet said that the peacekeeping department would work closely with the Viet Nam People’s Army and create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese side to send officers to visit a UN peacekeeping mission.
