Myanmar's parliament sessions to adjourn until November

The second sessions of the two Houses of Myanmar's Parliament will adjourn for one month to mid-November when the third sessions are scheduled to convene, Speaker of Myanmar's House of Representatives U Win Myint announced on October 7.

Speaking at the end of the first parliament session in Nay Pyi Taw, U Win Myint urged parliamentarians to not intervene in the executive and judiciary sectors, saying that the legislature is a law-making body and the parliamentarians should observe the existing rules and law.

He called on the legislators to pay attention to the voice of the people in their respective constituencies and explain their parliamentary undertakings during the adjournment period.

He also urged them to carry out the regional development tasks with the use of the constituency development fund and look into land confiscation cases to ensure people would not be affected.

The current assembly has operated for over eight months since February.
