Quang Ngai fishing vessel destroyed in fire

VOV.VN - A fishing boat caught fire at 1pm on January 1 while it was docked at Sa Can seaport, Binh Thanh commune in the southern central province of Quang Ngai, according to an announcement from a local official on January 2.

Do Van Lap, Chairman of the Binh Thanh commune People’s Committee in Binh Son district, central Quang Ngai province said that total damages from the fire are estimated at about VND3 billion.

The owner of the fishing vessel Qng 95409-TS is Nguyen Thuy from Binh Chanh commune, Binh Son district.

Local residents spotted the flames and were quick to report the fire to local authorities. Two fire engines and hundreds of soldiers were mobilized to extinguish the blaze.

Due to the effect of strong winds, and the presence of fishing tools and oil tanks on the vessel, fire fighters found the blaze difficult to tackle. By 2pm, the fire had been brought under control, however, due to the fury of the fire, all facilities of the vessel were completely destroyed.

Earlier on December 31, 2017, four fishing boats which were being repaired at Pho Quang commune, Duc Pho district also caught fire, causing estimated losses of VND2 billion.
