Vietnam – good example of successful nation: Argentinean Ambassador

Argentinean Ambassador Juan Carlos Valle Raleigh has given an interview to Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the threshold of Vietnam’s Lunar New Year festival (Tet), describing the Southeast Asian country as a good example of a successful nation.

President Tran Dai Quang (R) receives Argentinean Ambassador Juan Carlos Valle Raleigh at a meeting in Hanoi in 2017
He told VNA reporters that Vietnam has done well in combining efforts, labour and a vision of the future with a model prioritising economic development and social welfare for its people. That can be seen in the sustainable development of the economy and the strides in such fields as infrastructure, housing, health care, education, and people’s income and opportunities.

The country has also played an important part in the region and the world, he noted, citing its role in building the new Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

The diplomat expressed his delight at Vietnam’s economy growing beyond expectations in 2017, along with rising trade and foreign direct investment. The 30-percent rise in the number of foreign tourists last year also demonstrated the dynamism, steadiness, and development of Vietnam’s economy.

Regarding Vietnam-Argentina relations, Raleigh said over the nearly 45 years after establishing diplomatic ties in October 1973, the countries have built a sustainable, long-term, and win-win friendship evidenced by the close contact between their leaders via mutual high-level visits, the cooperation at multilateral forums, frequent government-to-government cooperation mechanisms, technical cooperation, cultural and sports exchanges, trade, and the investment potential of both markets.

He said in the New Year, he will continue making efforts to foster the countries’ friendship.

The ambassador recalled that his first Tet in Vietnam after taking office about one year ago gave him a unique experience when he witnessed the joy and celebration of Vietnamese people. He said he is looking forward to a Tet in the Mekong Delta this year.
