The ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Defence Officials’ Dialogue (DOD) opened in Hanoi on July 22, attracting more than 120 delegates from 27 ARF member countries and members of the ARF Unit under the ASEAN Secretariat.
The fourth DOD, which will end on July 23, has been focused on two main topics: the role of ARF defence organizations in the regional security structure, and plans for the future ARF defence cooperation.
In 2010, the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence will host four DODs and an ASEAN Security Policy Conference (ASPC).
The first DOD was held in India in 2009.
