Lao, Vietnam enhance security cooperation

(VOV) - Minister of Public Security, General Tran Dai Quang and Lao acting Security Minister Somkeo Silavong on January 15 discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two ministries at their talks in Vientiane.

The two ministries will continue to cooperate to contribute to maintaining political stability, social order and security and accelerating the international integration process of each nation, they affirmed.

The two sides reviewed cooperative results last year during which police force stepped up all-round cooperation by strengthening crime-related information exchange.

A representative from the Lao Ministry of Public Security said in 2015, the two ministries will work to combat transnational crime, especially drug and human traffickers and hi-tech crime.

The two ministries signed a cooperative agreement for 2015 during the event.

On the occasion, General Quang presented 50 computers to the Lao Ministry of Public Security while the Vietnam Investors Association in Laos also donated US$100,000 to help the Lao Ministry purchase equipment.
