India ‘antidumping’ appellate body rules in favour of Vietnam

VOV.VN - India’s governmental office responsible for conducting investigations in response to petitions received alleging violations of antidumping duty laws has issued a recommendation favourable to Vietnam.

Following a lengthy investigation, the Indian Directorate General of Antidumping and Allied Duties recommended against imposing antidumping duties on AA dry cell batteries imported from China or Vietnam.

The Directorate found the allegations filed in the petition asserting the importation of AA dry cell batteries caused irreparable harm to the industry in India was not supported by the underlying facts.

The investigation found that from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015 a significant volume of AA batteries from China and Vietnam did enter the Indian market at dumped prices. However, it found the domestic industry was not negatively impacted.

The petition against Vietnamese and Chinese batteries was filed by the Association of Indian Dry Cell Manufacturers and it now appears highly likely the case will be dismissed.
