Illegal money transport detected at Tan Son Nhat airport

The Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Sub-department under the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department have recently discovered a number of illegal foreign currency transport cases on flights from the city to foreign countries.

On May 16, the sub-department found a female Vietnamese passenger, 38, on the flight KE 686 from HCM City to Seoul (the Republic of Korea), hiding about 7,800 USD, 20 million WON and 300,000 JPY without declaration.

Previously, on May 8, it also detected a 50-year-old Australian woman carrying 17,250 AUD without declaration on the flight VN0781 from HCM City to Melbourne, Australia.

Further investigation of the cases is underway by the sub-department.

Tran Ngoc Anh, Vice Director of the sub-department, advised passengers to thoroughly understand the laws and regulations related to customs declaration in the process of doing immigration procedures to avoid liability for their violations.
