Vietnam-funded headquarters of Cambodian army opens in Phnom Penh

VOV.VN - The new headquarters of the High Command of the Royal Cambodian Army, funded by the Vietnam Defence Ministry, was inaugurated in Phnom Penh on January 24. 

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony on the observance of the 19th founding anniversary of the high command, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army Meas Sophea highlighted the headquarters and other buildings funded by the Vietnamese Defence Ministry as contributions to upgrading Cambodia’s army infrastructure, thus safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining political stability and social order. 

Recalling the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers’ dedication to saving Cambodians from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime in the past, he said the Cambodian army and people always greatly value the long-standing friendly neighborliness with Vietnam and will do their utmost to reinforce bilateral ties. 

Vietnamese Defence Attaché to Cambodia Nguyen Anh Dung also attended the event.
