NA agrees upon holding national referendum

(VOV) -National Assembly (NA) deputies have agreed to organize a national referendum on key issues to promote people’s power, national unity, and social consensus.

The draft law on referendums is being discussed at the 10th NA session and the compilation of the bill is presided over by the Vietnam Bar Association.

The Constitution and the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly defines those issues relating to the Constitution and of national importance that should be open to public comment. 

Bui Manh Hung, a deputy of Binh Phuoc said,  “Key issues can have a strong impact on the national situation and socio-economic development, and concerns everyone. When a referendum is hold, it’s important to keep people fully informed about the issues and options, so that they can make active and responsible decisions.”

The drafting of the Law on Referendum aims to specify the 2013 Constitution and clarify the legal system. The bill will be voted for approval at the current session.
