The Prime Minister has approved an investment report on a project to supply electricity to more than 116,000 households in 1,200 hamlets and villages in five Central Highlands provinces.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) is designated to set up the project with assistance from the Ministry of Industry.

The project is expected to cost VND1.1 trillion, 85 percent of which will come from the State budget and the remainder, from the EVN's capital. It will be carried out between 2006 and 2008.

Once completed, the project will raise the Central Highlands' rate of households having access to the national grid to 89.2 percent, further improving their material and spiritual lives and promoting socio-economic development in the region.
