Rendez-vous at the Oceanographic Museum in Nha Trang

VOV.VN - The Oceanographic Museum in Nha Trang has a special quality allowing guests to discover the world of the sea.

It offers guests a mix of entertainment and education, undoubtedly filled with surprise and wonder.

Founded in 1922 under the French, it remains one of the oldest scientific research institutes in Vietnam.

Besides research activities, it is also a museum storing large marine artefacts, one of the largest collections in Southeast Asia.

Guests will see first-hand more than 20,000 specimens of 4,000 kinds of marine and freshwater organisms that have been collected and preserved for decades.

A featured artefact is the giant whale skeleton – 26m long, 3m high – discovered in the Red River Delta, estimated to be at least 200 years old.

The institute also has a plethora of marine life at its research aquarium.

Here, guests can enjoy a majestic marine ballet presented in a reef-filled scenes.

Guests are introduced to a true-to-life replica of their natural East Sea home and the environment of the coastal waters and rich ecosystems including mangroves, coral reefs and sea grass.

There’s nothing like being able to physically connect with the sea, as it raises everyone’s awareness of environmental protection of natural resources for the benefit of posterity.

The museum is located on No 1 Cau Da Street in Nha Trang City of Khanh Hoa Province and is always eager to welcome guests through its doors.

Today, the institute is considered one of the top destination for tourists in the central coastal city.
