Informatics will be an academic subject in high-school education from the 2006-07 schoolyear, said a senior official of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Vong said the ministry has instructed Education and Training Departments in all provinces and cities to implement its latest regulation.

Under the regulation, each high school will have at least one computer room installed with 25 computers.
The ministry also required that all informatics teachers be qualified through tertiary education of information technology or training in informatics pedagogic skills.
