PM meets Vietnam Embassy staff, OVs in Philippines

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 28 met with Vietnam Embassy staff and representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community in the Philippines during his stay in Manila for the 30th ASEAN Summit.

PM urged embassy staff to work harder to deepen the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Philippines.

Meeting with overseas Vietnamese community representatives, the government leaders briefed them on the socio-economic situation at home, noting that a sore of measures are being taken to stabilise the macro economy, spur economic growth, accelerate the administrative procedure reform, and improve investment climate to increase the national competitive capability and attract more investment.

He expressed his hope that the overseas Vietnamese community in the Philippines will better integrate into the local society, comply with the host country’s law and contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperative relations between Vietnam and the Philippines.

Concerning the 30th ASEAN Summit, Phuc highlighted the significance of the event, saying that it kicks off a broad array of official activities of the ASEAN 2017 when the regional bloc marks its 50th anniversary.

The event also presents opportunities for ASEAN states to expand cooperatives ties with other dialogue partners, he added.
