NA leader hails audit sector's contributions to state management

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has applauded the important role of the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) in supporting the government and the legislature’s management activities.

The top legislator made the remarks at the SAV’s conference on January 15 in Hanoi to set out tasks for 2018.

In 2017, the SAV conducted 257 audits focusing on new and sensitive areas  said to be prone to corruption and wastage.

As of January 4, 2018, the organization discovered financial violations of VND43.66 trillion and a redundancy of 57,175 public servants and employees.

"Through audit activities, the SAV has detected many inadequacies, proposed amendments, supplements, replacements and abolition of many legal documents, contributing to fine-tuning policies on management and the use of finance and public assets. We need to underscore that the State Audit of Vietnam had fulfilled all of its tasks set for 2017", noted Ms. Ngan.

She asked the SAV to carry out necessary measures to achieve its development strategy goals towards 2020 and successfully host the 14th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) slated for this September in Hanoi.

The NA leader also praised the SAV for having extensively engaged in deeper international integration, cooperated with many reputable audit organizations and agencies in the world, and taken on the role of ASOSAI President for the period 2018-2021. This will be the highlight of the audit sector's international cooperation.

Together with the strengthening of the apparatus, the SAV should constantly improve its staff capacity and qualifications aiming to build a strong contingent of experienced and highly qualified auditors, she said.

On the occasion, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan presented the Independence Order, third class, to former Auditor General Nguyen Huu Van, and the Labour Order, second class, to Auditor General Ho Duc Phoc.
