A ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Hanoi on May 10 to receive 1,400 Euro from Vietnamese residents in Finland and VND5 million from composer Nguyen Thien Dao - a Vietnamese residing in France – which was donated to Vietnamese Agent Orange victims.

Speaking on the occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland Tran Ngoc An said though Overseas Vietnamese still face certain difficulties, their donations reflect sympathy for their compatriots in the homeland.

“It’s my great honour to convey the meaningful gifts to Vietnamese Agent Orange victims,” Mr An added.

For his part, composer Dao said Vietnamese people living in foreign countries always keep close watch on the nation’s development and want to help their compatriots. Mr Dao is the only Vietnamese with dual nationality (French and Vietnamese) who has just been awarded the “Vinh Danh Dat Viet” (Vietnam Glory) prize. He offers aids to Vietnamese Agent Orange victims every time he comes back to Vietnam.
